The Clinical Services Group (CSG) links the “good care of patients” to “good business results.”

“Quality is just good business.” Dr. Frist, Sr., co-founder of HCA, was fond of saying that taking good care of patients always leads to good business results. The Clinical Services Group (CSG) links the “good care of patients” to the “good business results” for HCA. CSG strives to provide the support and resources necessary to reach quality goals.

By presenting evidence-based guidance, creating tools, and providing measurement data, the CSG upholds the mission of improving performance and supporting the growth of safe, effective, efficient and compassionate healthcare. The Services specifies five areas of concentration:

1. Achieve industry- leading performance on public and private clinical and satisfaction measures.

2. Improve patient safety, harm prevention, and risk reduction.

3. Support the HCA growth and efficiency agenda.

4. Provide leadership for foundational quality and compliance.

5. Provide national advocacy for HCA clinical and operational agenda.

At Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, we strive to be among the 90th percentile in our core measures results. A core measure set is a unique grouping of performance measures that, when viewed together, provide a robust picture of the care provided for a specific conditions. These evidence based measure sets allow us to provide consistent quality care to our patients and reduce the incidence of medical errors. In the coming years, CMS will introduce additional inpatient and outpatient measures that will require us to quickly assess our performance and adopt improvement strategies when needed. This will be especially important when CMS introduces its Value-Based Purchasing program effective with discharges of October 1, 2012. Value-based purchasing links hospital payment to the quality of service provided and rewards providers who deliver high quality, efficient clinical care. SRMC wants to work closely with all our physicians to ensure that we provide consistent, evidence based patient care – every time!
