Dr. Emerald O’Sullivan-Mejia

Dr. Emerald O’Sullivan-Mejia, a Pathologist at SRMC, attended Eastern Virginia Medical School from 2001 -2005 and worked to complete her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System/Medical College of Virginia from 2006- 2010.  Dr. O’Sullivan completed her training with a fellowship in Hematopathology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System/Medical College of Virginia from 2010- 2011.  It was in her fellowship that she trained to provide diagnostic evaluation of blood, bone marrow, spleen, lymph nodes, and other hematolymphoid lesions.  She performed diagnostic evaluation, which  includes morphologic assessment, as well as ancillary techniques, such as flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular studies.  During her residency and fellowship, Dr. O’Sullivan also had the ability to perform bone marrow biopsies on the adult inpatients as well as many of the bone marrow transplant outpatients.  Dr. O’Sullivan is credentialed to perform bone marrow biopsies at SRMC.
