Drop Box – Patient Information at Your Fingertips

dropboxSpotsylvania Regional Medical Center now has the ability to ensure that the medical records of your patients are available to you when you need them. We can now bring you a tool referred to as “drop-box”. The dropbox is installed on your office computer and any staff member that you designate will have the ability to log into the password-protected site to view various parts of the medical records on your patient’s recent visit to the hospital. Some of these include results of lab work performed, discharge summaries or imaging reports. This information is available at your fingertips to aid in the treatment of your patient when returning to the office for follow-up care.

Here is how it works: When your patient comes into the hospital for labs or radiology exams that you’ve ordered or if they come for emergency care and identifies you as their primary care physician, your name is then attached to the patient’s record. As the patient is treated, any results that you select to receive are uploaded to this dropbox site and available in PDF format for your office staff to either print for your paper chart or export into an electronic medical record system. As long as your patient identifies you as their physician, your staff will have access to these records.
