From Our CEO: Ebola Preparedness at Spotsylvania Regional

ebolaI want to assure you that the HCA Corporation’s executives and Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center’s leadership are partnering together to develop systems and protocols for our expert clinical staff, making sure that the appropriate equipment and supplies are on site, and that our nurses and physicians  are well educated about the steps that will be taken in the rare case that we would need to treat a patient with Ebola. We have formed a small task force, led by our COO, Roberta Barton-Joe, and includes Jake Marshall, Jeanne Burkett, Susanna Sullard, ER leads, key physicians and other staff who have met frequently this week to discuss protocols, issues and questions.  This group will continue to meet frequently and help manage the various drills, PPE education, planning efforts and certainly communications with internal and external constituents.

Communication is key, so posters have been positioned at each entrance to the hospital, asking the visitor or patient to enter through the Emergency Department entrance if they have a fever or flu-like symptoms and to don a mask upon entering.

All of our efforts will serve to make us better prepared for anything that comes our way.  Your commitment to our organization is appreciated.

Greg Madsen, CEO
