Happy Doctors’ Day!

Doctor's Day 2016

Doctors’ Day was first celebrated March 30, 1933, when Eudora Almond, wife of Dr. Charles Almond, set a day aside to honor physicians. From those beginnings in Winder, GA the celebration spread, and the House and Senate officially declared March 30th “National Doctors’ Day” in 1990.

Welcome Michael Clark

Michael Clark has joined Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center as Interim CEO effective February 29th, 2016.  Michael brings more than 30 years of hospital and health system administrative experience to SRMC.  Previously, he served as president of LifePoint Health’s American Division from 2009-2013, with operating responsibility for 14 hospitals in the Southeast. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer for LifePoint Health’s American Division from 2006-2009. Michael also was CEO of the Central Kentucky Market and Georgetown Community Hospital from 2003-2006 and CEO of Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville, KY from 1999-2003. Heparin Protocol Change

What are the differences?

  • Anti-Xa used for monitoring unfractionated heparin instead of aPTT. (aPTT still available for coagulation testing.)
  • Infusion Pump Library will be set to units/kg/hr
  • Protocols will be updated to match the change
    • Two Protocols:
      • DVT/PE, Systemic Anticoagulation (Non-cardiac)
      • Acute Coronary Syndrome, Low Dose Indications
