Tim Tobin, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center CEO to Retire

Tim Tobin, who became Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center’s first CEO in 2008, today announced his retirement effective August 31. 

“It’s been a great honor to open Spotsylvania Regional and set it on a course for success,” said Tobin.  “From a plot of vacant woodland, we’ve been able to build a facility that has become an indispensable part of our community.  I’m immensely proud of what our employees and physician partners have accomplished here – especially their unwavering commitment to patients.”      

PET/CT Services are back at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

We are pleased to announce the return of PET/CT services at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.  With the opening of the new Cancer Center, it complements the other services we have to offer.  Appointments may be made for any Saturday beginning at 10am and ending at 4pm.  If you have patients who have had prior imaging at a different location, it is not a problem.  We can request prior films from any facility and obtain quickly for comparison to ensure a full reading is performed.  Please note that we must order our nuclear medicine dose by noon on Friday for Saturday exams, so please make sure to schedule prior to this deadline. Dr. Michael Porrazzo Joins Cancer Center

Michael S. Porrazzo, M.D., serves as director of radiation oncology at Spotsylvania Regional Cancer Center (SRCC) on behalf of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Massey Cancer Center, which partnered with SRCC to provide radiation oncology care. The two organizations have aligned under an agreement between HCA Virginia Health System and VCU Health System, a component of the VCU Medical Center that delivers Massey’s clinical oncology care. Dr. Porrazzo is also an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the VCU School of Medicine.

HCA Partnered with PharmMD

HCA has partnered with PharmMD to provide employees with a Medication Therapy Management program that can help them maximize the benefits they receive from their prescription drug coverage. PharmMD will provide participating employees with a complimentary medical review.

Documentation Specialist Available Evenings

In an effort to be more accessible to night Hospitalists, CDI Physician Advisor, other Physicians, hospital staff, and HIM, Erica A. Spence MA, BSN, RN, Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist will now be available during these hours and can be reached at ext. 4772:

Mon/Wed/Fri – 9 am to 5 pm
Tues/Thurs – Noon to 8 pm

On Tuesday and Thursday evening hours, she can be utilized as an onsite resource for process questions regarding Retrospective or Concurrent Queries, and work with/orient any new Physician staff.
